"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." Genesis 28:15She's alone again. Nobody to talk to. No one to listen. Five failed marriages would surely make people avoid you, she told herself.
It was a clear midday. She went to draw water from the well while the scorching sun was up to its highest. Why? Perhaps to avoid mean looks and judgmental stares.
However, as she approached the well, she noticed a man sitting down by it. She wondered who He was and was surprised that He, a Jew, seemed to want to talk to her.
"Will you give Me a drink?" He said. She heard kindness in His voice. In His eyes, she saw humility and acceptance, not rejection and condemnation. Just by being there, looking at Him and hearing Him... she felt secure. Loved, not judged.
Despite her reluctance, she obliged, and they started a conversation that would change her life forever.
John 4:4 said Jesus "had to go through Samaria," while other Jews usually traveled around that place to get to their destination. Could it be He already knew He would have to meet her there?
She didn't know it, but she was never alone. God loved her and cared for her and watched her always. God meant for that day to happen.
GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU
Many times in our lives we feel the same as this Samaritan woman. We feel like we're doing everything on our own. Carrying all our responsibilities and burdens all by ourselves. And nobody cares.
Nothing is further from the truth than that.
God is always with us.
He is with us through our disappointments and failures.
He is with us whenever we feel worthless and ineffective.
He is with us when we are changing diapers and doing the laundry.
He is with us while we work for a living for our family.
He accompanies us when temporary separations from our loved ones happen.
He sees our tears and notices what we do.
He knows us and He knows that only He can satisfy our innermost being.
JESUS LOVES YOU
Unlike many religious leaders of yesterday and today, Jesus pursues us simply because of who we are. He doesn't care who we were or what we've done.
He loves us and accepts us, forgives us of all our sins and unrighteousness.
He sets us free from the power of sin, and tells us to sin no more with power that comes from Him.
Right now, Jesus is with you.
He is pursuing you. He loves you. He wants you to also want to be with Him. He wants you to become aware of His presence always.
Remember, you are never alone. God loves you. God cares for you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is with you.
Always.
