Amazing, Awful, Ordinary: Finding God in Every Season

Life is full of ups, downs, and everything in between.

As L.R. Knost puts it: “Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it's ordinary and mundane and routine.”

I know it's easier said than done, but no matter where we find ourselves right now, it would be best to trust that God is with us, working things out for good (Romans 8:28).

The Amazing: Cherish the Good Moments

When life feels amazing, it’s easy to see God at work. These moments remind us of His blessings.

Psalm 16:11 says, “In your presence there is fullness of joy.” During these moments, take time to thank God for every good thing (James 1:17). Celebrate and soak it in. Cherish the moment.

The Awful: Lean on God in Hard Times

Hard times can make us question everything.
But God’s Word reminds us that He’s close when we’re hurting. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.”

Hold on to His love and trust that He can bring good even from our pain (Isaiah 61:3). You’re not alone. You never are.

The Ordinary: Find God in the Everyday

Most of life happens in the ordinary moments. Even here, God is present.

Colossians 3:23 encourages us: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.” Whether it’s washing dishes or commuting to work, invite Him into the little things. They matter, too.

Every Season Has a Purpose

Paul wrote in Philippians 4:12-13, “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation… I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.”

Whether life is amazing, awful, or ordinary, always remember God is with us through it all.

So breathe in the amazing. Hold on through the awful. Embrace the ordinary. Every moment, no matter how it feels, is part of God’s bigger story for your life.
